Windows Vista Tip for aligning windows

I’ve always had difficulty in aligning separate application windows in Vista.  While flying through some tech articles today I found a tip that I didn’t know about – it’s an instant productivity-helper!  (I wish I remembered which article so I could cite it).

To quickly align application windows:

  1. Left-click on an application in the task bar
  2. Hold down the CTRL key and right-click on another application on the task bar
  3. Select “Show Windows Side by Side” or “Show Windows stacked”

Result: Perfectly aligned windows!  Let those with large monitors rejoice!

You can align more than 2 windows together – just repeat step 2 on additional applications in the task bar.

Will this turn the search battle?

Years from now will the Verizon deal with Microsoft be what shifts Google’s search dominance towards Microsoft?

It’s quite interesting.  While desktop search is pretty much owned by Google, I feel there is definitely opportunity in mobile search.  It seems the majority of mobile phone users rarely use search on their phones, and companies have also not exploited ways in which to work advertising into mobile applications.

Verizon is poised to be the #1 mobile service provider.  That gets Microsoft’s search into the hands of a whole lot of people.

This search partnership is being talked about at CES 2009 (Consumer Electronics Show).  CES Coverage by ZDNet.

Since Macworld is also going on right now, I thought this tidbit was nice: Microsoft has been developing applications for the Mac for 25 years.

All the Presidents

I think this is very cool.

All the living U.S. Presidents got together for lunch at the White House.

“So what color wallpaper did Hillary use for the Lincoln Bedroom?”

“I hated it when the Secret Service mistook one of my kids for a terrorist.”

“Did you have the protesters?  Every day those damn protesters outside my window… how did you sleep?”
